In November 2025 Bahrain cut the property threshold from BHD 200,000 to BHD 130,000 and scrapped the 90-day rule.
10 Feb 2022: Golden Residency created (Decision 20/2022).
20 Apr 2023: freehold-area framework replaced (Decision 38/2023).
26 Jun 2023: Platinum Residency created; Platinum holders may own outside freehold zones (Decisions 47 and 48 of 2023).
10 Apr 2025: official information site goldenresidency.gov.bh and hotline 17484000 launched.
Apr 2025: Bilaj Al Jazayer and new Diyar Al Muharraq parts opened to foreign ownership.
24-26 Nov 2025: property threshold cut from BHD 200,000 to BHD 130,000 and 90-day presence rule repealed (Decision 150/2025), announced at Cityscape Bahrain.
13 Jan 2026: official FAQ document list updated to BHD 130,000 property shares.
31 Aug 2026: LMRA digitised work-permit renewal for Golden Residency holders (instant; 6 months, 1 or 2 years).
12 Oct 2026: official 'Residency by Property Investment' page updated with a map of 30+ eligible projects.
